Statement
We were commissioned to develop a preliminary master plan for an Eco-Lodge located in the municipality of Caldera, in the Bahía Inglesa sector of the Atacama Region. The requirements included the ability to develop, in the medium and long term, a program related to ecotourism and recreational activities, all within an area of approximately 4 hectares.
In our initial site visit, we identified certain inherent and natural conditions of the territory, such as the dynamics and direction of the winds. This was the determining factor for the spatial and geometric configuration of the program. Therefore, the various activities associated with the site are distributed using elements arranged radially, following the prevailing wind patterns. This allows the resulting structures to channel, filter, and mitigate the impact of the wind on the terrain as a whole. Consequently, the morphology adapts to the aerodynamic patterns of the site, with the wind ultimately becoming the structuring factor of the project.
